M&M Boys

Twins in town tonight...a quick look at past lineups yields this: the last time Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer were in the same lineup was on April 12th. Yikes. Not that this is anything new, as Morneau hasn't seen the postseason since his MVP season in '06 (missing two series against New York), and Mauer's missed 58 games this year alone. At least Minnesota fans can take some solace in the fact that the Twins have some of the best home uniforms in baseball.

On another note: Tim Wakefield goes for his 200th win again tonight. I'm just gonna start dropping random Wakefield facts until he gets it. So, here goes: not only did he throw two complete game wins the last time the Pirates were in the playoffs ('92 NLCS against Atlanta), but he was third in the rookie of the year voting that year, losing to the Dodgers' Eric Karros (with Moises Alou second). Let's take stock of that for a second--Karros has been a television commentator for eight years now, and Alou, who played for 17 god-damned years (starting with a franchise that no longer exists), has been retired for three. Not Wakefield, he's still standing out there throwing junk start after start.

UPDATE: Looks like Alfredo Aceves just blew it for Wake, so you'll have to deal with more knuckleball rants for at least one more start.
